Mestalla to have special support and colour despite fan absence
This Friday, Valencia CF return to action in LaLiga with a derby against Levante UD -a game full of symbolism as the first step towards a return to normality. The league, alongside the CSD and the Ministry of Health, have implemented a protocol that requires games to be held behind closed doors, but there are several initiatives in place to provide energy and colour to the derby.
Stadium atmosphere
Along with the Agrupació de Penyes, Valencia CF have created a campaign to give colour to the stands, with fans able to put their shirts, flags, scarves and other VCF items in place to show their support from a distance. There will also be a corner devoted to items from Levante UD fans, to recreate the away section.
Fans will be able to make their voice heard at the stadium from home, as the videoboard will show messages received on social media with the #AMUNTWorld hashtag. Traditional aspects such as music, fan noise and the stadium MC will be present over the loudspeaker system.
A tribute to those affected by Covid-19
In tribute to those who have lost their lives, or otherwise been affected in the pandemic, there will be a minute's silence before the game and the presidential seats will be left empty. LaLiga have put in place the 'Aplauso Infinito' initiative that consists of applause from fans around the world being played in the 20th minute. This applause has been gathered on the website aplausoinfinito.es.
Experiencing the game from home
Broadcasters are also adapting to the circumstances, and several -such as Movistar+ in Spain- will offer the choice between 'true audio' and the option of 'virtualisation.' The latter has a simulation of fans in the stands and sounds similar to those normally heard at the stadium.
At every remaining Valencia CF home game this season, the club are offering prizes of two shirts and a ball, signed by every first team player, to their most creative fans. To enter, supporters have to recreate Mestalla at home and share a photo or video, using the hashtag #AMUNTDesdeCasa / #AMUNTHome on Twitter, Instagram or TikTok.
For those in Valencia, partners Lamburguesa, Paffuto and The Sushi Room are also offering discounts and promotions on food and official merchandise.
